objectified
Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.
Objectified finally had a LA screening and it was AMAZING!
The conversations in Objectified have been on my mind the last couple of days as I look at everyday things in my life I take for granted – everything around us has been designed. The main theme that came to the surface was that of waste and how 90% of the things these great designers have made are probably in a landfill right now. Also, the apple geek in me lost his shit during the interview with Jonathan Ive inside the apple design studio (Gary said at the screening that during that day of filming they stopped work and cleared out the design studio at apple for 3 hours. A small part of him worried that he might cause some kind of delay in the iphone).
Go to a screening if you can or else check it out when it comes to DVD in September.
