HOLLYWOOD (CBS) Patrick Kenney, 43, died Friday, in a three-vehicle collision while crossing a Hollywood street. The accident occurred in the intersection of Crescent Heights and Sunset boulevard. Kenney was in a marked crosswalk and not sitting on a bench, contrary to some reports. The accident occurred in the middle of the intersection but the crash caused the cars to swerve onto the street. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Almost 2 years ago to the day Patrick called me up and told me that he wanted to offer me a job. It’s been a very weird day of what if’s, retrospect, and tragedy. Patrick and I didn’t always get along, but I do recall that no matter what was going on with work, we always had time to geek out for a minute and talk about the latest gadget, photography, or the best ebay deal we found that day. I feel bad that things didn’t work out better for him at sony, and that when he left on not so great terms I pretty much ceased any communication with him. Mostly though, I feel bad that a few months ago as fate would have it we unknowingly bought tickets next to each other at the arclight and when the lights came up I didn’t have more than a few words to say to him.

Patrick, I know you’re reading this right now and I’d just like to say that you truly left your mark on this world.. I will never forget you.
